- Start biking or walking to work or to the stores. It'll be good for your health and save you money.
- If you have to drive, start making lists so you only have to make one trip to the mall, etc. per week instead of driving out of your driveway everytime a new errand pops into your head.
- Car pool of course but not just for work. Get one or two of your neighbors to go grocery shopping with you. Each week take turns driving.
- Start developing some "hypermiler" skills. What are hypermilers? They are people committed to getting as many miles per gallon as they possibly can by driving their vehicles in very unique ways. Just google 'hypermilers' and you'll be introduced to a whole new subculture when it comes to driving.
- During the summer months, mow your lawn less. You'll save gas and you'll save the atmosphere. Some of the biggest polluting engines are lawn mower engines and gas weedwackers. Consider turning all or part of your lawn into a wildflower garden. You'll have beautiful flowers all through the growing season with no work on your part.
- If you live in the city, take the bus, subway or commuter train.
- Buy a motor scooter. (Make sure its bright yellow so you are sure to be seen!)
- Take some horse and buggy cues from the Amish.
- Talk to your employer about working from home at least one or two days a week.
- Easily convert your existing car or truck with the Water4Gas system and achieve 50% more miles per gallon (some have reported as high as 80% more) simply by burning water!
